Light Rigid (LR)

TLILIC2014 Licence to drive a light rigid vehicle

  • Small trucks with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) up to 8 tonnes. Any towed trailer must not weigh more than nine tonnes GVM
  • Buses that seat more than 12 adults including the driver and a GVM up to 8 tonnes
  • You must have held a class C licence for one year or more. You can’t practice to drive an LR vehicle, or upgrade to an LR licence until you hold a P2 or full class C licence

  2. Call Service NSW or Book Online for your Driver Knowledge Test for a Rigid Vehicle

  3. Pass the Driver Knowledge Test
  4. Purchase the Learners Logbook and Guides from Service NSW
  5. Call bctraining to book your training and Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA)
  6. Once you have passed your assessment all you need to do is return to Service NSW to have your new photo licence processed

This is optional. It is NOT a requirement to obtain your LR licence.
