RIIMPO318F: Conduct Civil Construction Skid Steer Loader Operations

Successful completion of this course guarantees you a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, which will allow you to operate ANY Skid Steer Loader on ANY Civil Construction worksite across Australia.

A skid-steer loader (commonly referred to as a “Bobcat” or “Posi-Track”) is a compact, highly manoeuvrable machine with the ability to use a wide range of tools and attachments.

This course will give you detailed training on how to plan and prepare work, operate a skid steer loader, conduct routine checks, relocate the skid steer loader and finally cleaning up.

All aspects of this course can be taught at our training facility in Goulburn or at your workplace- and contains both written and practical sessions covering:

  • Plan and prepare for Skid Steer Loader operations
  • Operate Skid Steer Loader
  • Load, Carry and Place materials
  • Select, remove and fit attachments
  • Prepare to relocate the Skid Steer Loader
  • Carry out machine operator maintenance
  • Conduct housekeeping activities

On successful completion of this course, applicants will have the ability to demonstrate the following;

  • Identify hazards and apply control measures using the Hierarchy of Hazard Control
  • Conduct pre start and post operational checks to ensure the skid steer is safe to use, refer to the logbook for previous faults
  • Effective communication techniques including hand signals and other designated signals.
  • Choose the correct attachments for the specific work being carried out
  • Techniques used when operating a skid steer loader.
  • Report defective plant and equipment and isolate according to site procedures.
