Heavy Combination (HC)


TLILIC3017 Licence to drive a heavy combination vehicle

  • Articulated vehicles with three or more axles
  • Heavy rigid vehicle trailer combinations including unladen dolly, with three or more axles.
  • Any towed trailer with a GVM more than nine tonnes
  • You must have held a class MR or HR licence or equivalent for one year or more. You can’t practice to drive an HC vehicle, or upgrade to an HC licence until you hold a full class MR or HR licence
  1. Study the Driver Knowledge Test questions for a heavy combination vehicle

  2. Call Service NSW or Book Online for your Driver Knowledge Test for a Rigid Vehicle

  3. Pass the Driver Knowledge Test
  4. Purchase the Learners Logbook and Guides from Service NSW
  5. Call bctraining to book your training and Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA)
  6. Once you have passed your assessment all you need to do is return to Service NSW to have your new photo licence processed

This is optional. It is NOT a requirement to obtain your LR licence.
